Often reffered to as the fashion capital of the world, the beautiful city of Milan also offers a number of marvellous gems when it comes to art and architecture. The Duomo di Milano a.k.a. Milan Cathedral is certainly one of the most extraordinary pieces of art in the world. Did you know that it took around six centuries and thousands of workers to build the cathedral? Due to its immense structure, it has topped the charts of largest cathedrals in Italy and is the fifth largest in the whole world. The duomo has 52 pillars and is decorated by around 3500 statues (more than any other building in Europe). The rooftop is easily accessible through stairs and offers a great view of the city. With light and ornate exterior combined with unique interior, it is a must see gothic cathedral when you visit Milan.
