Feeling happy and alive is a state of mind and you alone have full control over it. If you feel like you are stuck with certain circumstances or a routine that is making your life miserable, you must understand that you have all the power you need to change the direction of your life.
No one can help you figure out what you truly want in life. It’s something you have to do on your own when you’re ready. If you are not happy at this very moment, pause, take a deep breath and ask yourself what is stopping you from enjoying all the dimensions of your life to the fullest spiritually, mentally, physically and emotionally? Dig deep. Look within. You can’t fake it or simply copy someone else’s definition of happiness.
Figure out what is making you unhappy. Change the things you can such as choosing where you live, your job or friends. And learn to accept those that you simply can’t control such as other people’s thoughts, feeling and actions.
Most people complain about their lives, but they don’t want to do anything about it. The feeling of not being able to “move on” is just a mind-set that is imprisoning you. The only way to get out of this vicious cycle is by taking actions towards finding what truly makes you happy and then taking a step forward in that direction. If you don’t like the city, state or country where you currently live, start planning where you would like to live and then take actions. If you feel like you are stuck in a job that is sucking the life out of you, figure out what you are truly passionate about and then find ways of pursuing a career in that field. If you feel that your friends don’t resonate with you anymore, go and make new friends that share same interests as you.
When things get tough, just remember that you have the choice and the ability to change the things that make you unhappy.
